Difference between Spyware and Spy Software

I find it quite interesting when people call a Spy Software a spyware.

According to Wikipedia, the first record term of spyware was occured on October 16, 1995 on a Usenet post.  Spyware at first denoted software meant for espionage purposes.  Wikipedia goes on the define spyware as “a software that aids in gathering information about a person or organization without their knowledge and that may send such information to another entity without the consumer’s consent.”  Wikipedia goes on to classify that “Spyware” is classfied into four types: system monitors, trojans, adware and tracking cookies.  Because of the last three categories, Spyware now has a lot of negative conotations.

While I do agree that a Spy Software is a system monitor, I do not really agree that a Spy Software is a Spyware.  It should be classified more like a system monitor.  I mean PC Tools is a system monitoring software.  Does that make it a Spy Software or a Spyware?

System monitoring has a lot its advantages and also a lot of issues to deal with.  I mean would the world be a different place if all the governments in the world spied on terrorists phones?  I am sure some people will disagree and say that it invades privacy.  However, think of the amount of lives that it would save if we had tagged the terrorists who were on board the 9-11 attacks, or if the governments had monitored the terrorists who were involved in the Boston Marathon.

To any side of an arguement, there wlll always be people who support it and those who will totally reject it.  I think Spy Software have its purpose and when used carefully can protect lives and assets.  And that is what Handphone Spy seeks to serve.  We at Handphone Spy are determined not to sell our software to any people who consider using it for illegal purposes and we stand by that.
